When is the rent deposit due?
The rent deposit must be refunded to the tenant at the latest after the tenancy ends and the flat has been returned. The landlord may only withhold documented damage or outstanding rent.
Common unjustified withholdings
- No refund despite a proper handover
- Deductions for "redecoration" the tenant is not liable for
- Missing interest on the deposit over the tenancy term
- Flat-rate deductions without evidence
- Withholding for alleged, undocumented defects
Who can claim a refund?
Tenants whose deposit was not refunded, or only partially refunded, after the tenancy ended — even if the lease dates back years. We assess the limitation period and the evidence.
How does it work?
Send us your lease, the deposit receipt and your correspondence with the landlord. We assess, free of charge, which claims exist and enforce them.
- Free initial assessment of your deposit situation
- Review of refund deadlines and interest obligations
- Enforcement against the landlord via partner lawyers
- No cost risk to you
What does it cost me?
Nothing. We bear all costs of proceedings. If successful, we receive a previously agreed share of the deposit recovered.
