What is the emissions scandal?
Numerous diesel vehicles were delivered with engine management systems that reduce exhaust treatment outside test conditions. Such unlawful defeat devices — including so-called thermal windows — breach EU law according to the case law of the European Court of Justice. As a result, purchasers received a vehicle that does not match the quality they were promised.
Which vehicles are affected?
- VW, Audi, Škoda and SEAT models with EA189 and EA288 engines
- Other diesel models from additional manufacturers with thermal windows
- Used vehicles and leased vehicles as well
- Vehicles where a software update has already been installed
We establish whether your vehicle is affected using the chassis number, registration documents and purchase contract.
How much is the compensation?
Austrian courts regularly award compensation reflecting the reduced value of the vehicle. In other cases, unwinding the purchase contract in exchange for returning the vehicle may also be possible. The actual amount depends on the individual case and is not a guarantee of any particular outcome.
How does it work?
- Send us your purchase contract, registration documents and vehicle details
- Free assessment of eligibility and limitation periods
- Enforcement via specialised partner lawyers
- No cost risk to you
What does it cost me?
Nothing. We fund the proceedings in full — including legal, court and expert costs. We only receive a previously agreed share of the amount recovered if successful.
